Parker Hannifin Corporation Makes $125,000 Gift to The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges 2007-2008 Annual Campaign

Tom Piraino, Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Parker Hannifin Corporation in Cleveland, presented a $125,000 check from the corporation to Jeff Wolf, President of The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC),  and OFIC Board Chair Dan Anderson, President, Retail Group, The Andersons, Inc., at the September 2007 OFIC Board of Trustees meeting to kick off the Foundation’s 2007-2008 campaign.  The gift will provide scholarship support for students from Auglaize, Clermont, Cuyahoga, Defiance, Franklin, Fulton, Lake, Lorain, Lucas, Mahoning, Medina, Montgomery, Portage, Preble, Summit, or Union Counties enrolled in OFIC member colleges and universities and majoring in engineering or science.

Parker Hannifin Corporation, a diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems, has partnered with OFIC in support of Ohio independent higher education for 55 years and has a cumulative giving total of nearly $1 Million.

In addition to financial support of OFIC’s mission, Parker Hannifin provides strategic and campaign leadership.  Donald E. Washkewicz, Chairman & CEO of the Parker Hannifin Corporation, is serving as OFIC Statewide Campaign Chair, and Piraino is an OFIC trustee.  

OFIC is a 501 (c) (3) organization, the primary corporate and foundation solicitation organization for 35 independent Ohio colleges and universities, and operates one of the largest, most comprehensive and diverse scholarship management services in the state.  OFIC member colleges collectively enroll nearly 97,000 students and award one-third of all bachelor’s degrees in the state. For 57 years OFIC has worked to highlight the leadership, value and excellence of independent higher education and has provided unrestricted operating funds and scholarship commitments through funds raised in annual solicitations of businesses and foundations, thereby assuring continuation of excellence in private higher education. OFIC is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of Ohio’s corporate leaders, as well as presidents of the 35 member colleges.
