MICHAEL E. KEHOE, AT&T, ELECTED CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF THE OHIO FOUNDATION OF INDEPENDENT COLLEGES

Michael E. Kehoe, Vice President, AT&T Ohio, was elected Chair of the Board of The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) at the organization’s Annual Meeting on April 9, succeeding Daniel T. Anderson, President, Retail Group, The Andersons, Inc.

An Ohio native and graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Mr. Kehoe joined Ohio Bell in 1971 and held a number of managerial positions through Ohio Bell’s evolution to Ameritech, SBC and AT&T Ohio.  He has been an extremely active and dedicated volunteer to further OFIC’s mission to provide access to independent higher education to Ohio’s students.  Mr. Kehoe has worked as a campaign volunteer, serving three years as captain of an AT&T volunteer team, and chaired the Columbus area 2003-2004 campaign.  Elected to the OFIC Board of Trustees in 2000, Mr. Kehoe has served as a member of the Executive, Nomination and Personnel Committees.  He has been particularly active in support of OFIC’s Diversity Initiative, which includes the presentation of forums to address diversity issues in the workplace and on OFIC member campuses.

Mr. Kehoe is a Viet Nam veteran, having served as a Platoon Leader and Company Commander in the 101st Airborne Division.  He and his wife are the parents of three children and reside in Dublin, Ohio, where he is active in civic affairs.

AT&T is a 53-year donor to OFIC’s mission and programs, with a cumulative giving total of more than $4 million.

New Members elected to the OFIC Board of Trustees:

Michael J. Greitzer, Partner/President, Miller-Valentine Group, Dayton, directs the company’s national efforts and activities related to relationship management, strategic planning and marketing.  He joined Miller-Valentine in 1996 with more than 20 years of diverse experience in the commercial real estate industry.  He holds a B.A. in Business Administration and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Wittenberg University and is the 2007-2008 Vice Chair for OFIC’s Dayton area campaign.

Robert W. Malone, Shareholder, Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, Akron, joined the firm in 1976 and was elected a shareholder in 1982.  Currently Chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group, he is on the faculty of the University of Akron Master of Taxation Program.  He has taught and spoken on business and tax issues at colleges and professional organizations and has written articles for legal, financial, accounting and tax publications.  He holds a B.A. from Mount Union College and earned his J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law.

James Marshall, Senior Vice President, US Bank, Cincinnati, develops cash flow solutions and strategies for entities with annual revenue ranges of $10 million to $500 million.  His responsibilities over US Bank’s 24 states have included Workplace Banking, Alumni Banking, Large Corporate Banking and Affinity Associations.  Mr. Marshall received his B.B.A. at The University of Cincinnati with a concentration in accounting and marketing.

Mark R. Thresher, President and Chief Operating Officer, Nationwide Financial Services, Inc., Columbus, joined Nationwide in 1996 after 18 years with KPMG LLP.  He is a member of numerous professional associations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies.  Mr. Thresher earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Otterbein College, where he is now a trustee and vice-chairman and serves on the investment operations committee and chairs the audit committee.

OFIC is the primary corporate and foundation solicitation organization for 35 independent Ohio colleges and universities. OFIC member colleges collectively enroll more than 97,000 students and award one-third of all bachelor’s degrees in the state. For 58 years OFIC has worked to highlight the leadership, value and excellence of independent higher education and has provided unrestricted operating funds and scholarship commitments through funds raised in annual solicitations of businesses and foundations, thereby assuring continuation of excellence in private higher education. OFIC is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of Ohio’s corporate leaders, as well as presidents of the 35 member colleges.
