Q.

What are the criteria for eligibility?

A.

Students who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Students must be a senior in high school and the son or daughter of a W. W. Williams employee* who has been with the company for at least three (3) years at the date of the application (son or daughter is interpreted to mean natural child, as well as adopted and/or stepchild or legal ward)

  • Student must be enrolled or accepted at any regionally accredited college or university of the recipient's choice in the continental United States.

  • All applicants are required to take the ACT or SAT and submit those results.

  • Minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0 as of December 31, 2023. An official transcript must be submitted.

  • All applicants must submit a Recommendation Form from their high school guidance counselor or principal. Click here for the form.

    *All children of Company Officers are excluded from participation in this program.

How do I apply?

A.

Complete the online application on the Rose M. Williams Scholarship website (www.ofic.org/smr/williams). The Username and Password can be found in the announcement from W.W. Williams or by emailing hughes@ofic.org.

The deadline for submission of the online application including upload of current transcript, your ACT or SAT scores and the completed recommendation form is April 5, 2024.

What is SMR?

A.

Scholarship Management Resources (SMR) is an independent scholarship services provider that is partnering with W.W. Williams to manage this scholarship program, including selecting the recipients. This ensures the selection process is fair and objective.

Q.

Is applying online safe?

A.

Yes. Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized employees, agents and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. To protect the information being gathered, the scholarship application site has security measures in place including firewalls, encryption, and authenticated access to internal databases where needed.

How do you decide who will receive the awards?

A.

Selection is based on academic merit, demonstrated leadership, community service, and financial need.

Q.

How and when will students be notified of decisions?

A.

Decisions will be made and selected scholars will be notified by letter by May 2024.

Q.

How and when will the awards be paid?

A.

Award funds will be distributed directly to the scholars’ institutions in the summer of 2024.

Q.

Can these scholarships be renewed?

A.

Yes, this scholarship will automatically be renewed for four consecutive years as long as the student continues to meet all eligibility requirements.

Q.

What is an official transcript?

A.

This academic record must come from your high school office and be signed by an appropriate official. Records printed from the Internet or other unofficial copies are not accepted. You can upload your transcript to the application.
