Q.

What are the criteria for eligibility?

A.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Applicant must be a dependent child of an active AMP employee with ≥ 3 years of service as of the application deadline March 29, 2024 (service is defined as years with AMP and companies acquired by AMP).

  • Scholarship recipients may be awarded a maximum of four (4) scholarships.

  • Children of Business VP / Director level employees and above are not eligible.

  • Applicant must be a full-time student during the full 2024-2025 academic year.

  • Applicant must be enrolled full-time (or accepted for full-time study) at an accredited, non-profit, 2-year or 4-year college or university during the 2024-2025 academic year.

  • Scholarships will be awarded for undergraduate degrees only.

  • Applicant must submit a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To allow for processing time, complete the FAFSA as early as possible before the scholarship deadline. 

  • Applicant must submit a current official transcript from student's current school.  Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.

  • Applicant must submit 2 letters of recommendation dated within the last 6 months of application (not a peer and not a family member – examples could include teacher, coach, boss, clergy, club president, guidance counselor, etc).

  • Applicant must have a minimum cumulative weighted grade point average of 2.75/4.0 as of December 31, 2023.

  • Applicant must fully and truthfully complete the application process.

  • Do not repeat answers from previous years on this year’s essay questions.

The applications and the selection process are confidential. Applications must be completed online.

 

Q.

How do I apply?

A.

Complete the online application on the Allied Scholars Program website (http://www.ofic.org/smr/alliedmineral). The password can be found in the letter from Jon R. Tabor or by emailing hughes@ofic.org

The deadline for submission of the online application including upload of an official transcript, two letters of recommendation and a copy of your FAFSA is March 29, 2024.

What is SMR?

A.

Scholarship Management Resources (SMR) is an independent scholarship services provider that is partnering with Allied Mineral Products to establish and help administer this scholarship program, like hosting this site. 

 

Q.

Is applying online safe?

A.

Yes. Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only Allied authorized employees and agents (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. To protect the information being gathered, the scholarship application site has security measures in place including firewalls, encryption, and authenticated access to internal databases where needed.

 

Q.

How do you decide who will receive the awards?

A.

Scholarship recipients will be chosen by an Allied selection committee based on applicants' overall academic promise, community service, school involvement, leadership, character, financial need and work ethic.

 

Q.

How and when will students be notified of decisions?

A.

All applicants will be notified of the final results by Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Q.

How and when will the awards be paid?

A.

Award funds will be distributed directly to the scholars' institutions at the end of July 2024.

Q.

Are these scholarships automatically renewed?

A.

No, scholars must reapply for consideration each year.

Q.

What is an official transcript?

A.

This academic record must come from your high school office or college registrar’s office and be signed by an appropriate official at the school or college.
