This scholarship program was created in 2011 with Bricker & Eckler awarding The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, the prestigious Bricker & Eckler Anniversary Gift. With this endowed gift, the donors' intent is to distribute annually the fund earnings as scholarships to promising and dedicated pre-law students. A representative of the Bricker & Eckler law firm will serve on the selection committee. Decisions will be based on the submitted information. Any student who will be a senior in the 2017-2018 academic year and is enrolled at an OFIC member institution is eligible to apply. The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • U. S. citizen
  • Qualify for financial aid
  • Enrolled full-time in an OFIC member college
  • Pre-law student (applicant's intent, not necessarily major)
  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • Home residence in either Cleveland, Columbus or Cincinnati-Dayton areas
  • Senior class rank for the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skill
  • Involved in campus and/or community activities

The following application materials are required:

  • Online application, including a 1-2 page personal statement
  • Faculty recommendation
  • Verification of financial need
  • Approval of pre-law advisor
  • An official copy of your college transcript
