For the 2024-2025 Academic Year
Scholar Requirements
Eligibility criteria:
Employee must be a 2024 employee in good standing and have completed their introductory period in order for them or their child or their grandchild to be eligible. The employee must have also completed at least 250 hours of work for Pittsburgh International Race Complex by the scholarship deadline of October 31, 2024.
The student must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work or attend college in the U.S. without limitation.
The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 (high school or undergraduate cumulative GPA).
The student must be attending a college, university, technical or trade school in Spring 2025.
The student must complete the online application and upload their current official transcript.
Pittsburgh International Race Complex has partnered with Scholarship Management Resources™ (SMR), an independent scholarship services provider, to establish and manage this scholarship program, including selecting the recipients. This ensures the selection process is fair and objective based on the criteria above.
Application deadline is Oct, 31, 2024 for the spring semester of 2025 (starting in January 2025).
Awards
Thanks to the generosity of Jim and Kathy Stout, this fall we will award two scholarships of $1,000 each to employees of the Pittsburgh International Race Complex or their eligible children or grandchildren. These $1,000 scholarships can be used for full-time and part-time study in the spring semester of 2025. Applicants may be attending any 2- or 4-year college/university or pursuing a program at a trade or technical school.

Selection is based on academic merit, application effort, activities, and honors.

Decisions will be made and selected scholars will be notified by email at the end of December 2024.

Award funds will be distributed by SMR directly to the scholars’ institutions in December.

Yes, scholars may reapply for a renewal award. The maximum number of years a student can receive an award is four. Students are expected to complete a bachelor's degree in four years or an associate's degree in two years. Renewal applicants must continue to meet all eligibility requirements.

Yes. Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized SMR employees, agents and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. To protect the information being gathered, the scholarship application site has security measures in place including firewalls, encryption, and authenticated access to internal databases where needed.

This academic record must come directly from your high school office or college registrar’s office and be signed by an appropriate official at the school or college.
