OFIC Honors Excellence at 75th Anniversary Spring Trustee Meeting

Earlier this month, the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) convened its Spring Trustee Meeting, marking a significant milestone—its 75th Anniversary. The meeting culminated in a celebratory Awards Luncheon, where OFIC recognized outstanding individuals and organizations for their leadership, innovation, and philanthropic contributions to independent higher education in Ohio.

A standout feature of the trustee meeting was the Internship Program Panel, which highlighted the impactful collaboration between Employers Health and The Nord Family Foundation. This partnership has facilitated funded nonprofit internships, offering students invaluable real-world experience while simultaneously addressing critical community needs. These high-impact internships not only ignited students' passion for service but also fostered a lasting philanthropic mindset, preparing them to become socially conscious leaders. The luncheon also celebrated Oberlin College with the Inspiration Award for its groundbreaking career programming that supports neurodivergent students. Through innovative career exploration and staff professional development, Oberlin's Career Exploration Team—led by Anthony Pernell-McGee, Vilmarie Perez, and Don Graves—has made significant strides in providing equitable career readiness opportunities for all students, regardless of their background or challenges.
