Celebrating a Century of Excellence: Shook Construction Turns 100
This year, we are proud to join our donor partner, Shook Construction, in honoring their 100-Year Anniversary. Since its founding in 1926 by Charles H. Shook in Dayton, Ohio, the company has grown into a multi-regional leader with more than 500 team members across eight locations in Indiana, Ohio, and North Carolina. Shook has built schools, healthcare facilities, water infrastructure, and industrial spaces, guided by a consistent commitment to integrity, quality, and innovation.
A Longstanding Partnership with OFIC
For more than 60 years, Shook Construction has been a committed donor partner of the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC). Their support strengthens independent higher education across Ohio, benefiting students, faculty, and institutions. OFIC Board Member Matt Danis, Vice President and Great Lakes Regional Manager at Shook Construction, plays a vital role in deepening this partnership by connecting Shook’s leadership with the programs and students it supports.
Investing in the Next Generation
Shook’s Co-Op program, running for more than 40 years, gives students hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to multiple construction sectors. Many company leaders, including CEO Chris Halapy, began their careers through this program. Co-Ops gain real-world experience both in the field and in the office, preparing them to become future leaders in the industry.
100 Acts of Service for 100 Years of Service
Guided by the Mission “To Dramatically Improve the Communities We Serve,” Shook undertakes a service project for every construction job they perform. In 2026, Shook teams are expanding their community impact through 100 Acts of Service for 100 Years of Service. From workforce development programs to volunteering and donations, Shook is committed to giving back to the communities where their teams live and work.
Celebrating Partnership and Community Impact
We celebrate Shook Construction’s century of excellence and are grateful for their ongoing partnership with OFIC. Through their projects, Co-Op program, and philanthropic support, Shook continues to strengthen communities and empower the next generation of leaders.
