Meet Kristina - Student Stories of Impact

One opportunity can change the direction of a student’s future.

Kristina Schilt, a recent graduate of Capital University, earned her degree in accounting and is an OFIC scholarship recipient. As a first-generation college student, she balanced her coursework while working two jobs throughout college.

Managing work and academics was a constant challenge, often pulling time and energy away from her studies.

Receiving an OFIC scholarship helped ease that burden. It allowed her to reduce her work hours, focus more fully on school, and dedicate her senior year to applying for jobs and building professional connections. The support also gave her greater confidence in her path forward.

Kristina’s story reflects how donor-supported scholarships reduce barriers and help students across Ohio move forward in their education and careers.

Her journey is a reminder of what becomes possible when financial pressure is reduced and opportunity is made accessible.

What you start, they continue.
