Career Services Design Workshop - Recap

OFIC and its member campuses are part of the national Council of Independent Colleges (CIC). In early March, CIC hosted a Career Services Design Workshop, funded by the Lumina Foundation, to explore new ideas for the future of career services.

Assistant Professor Mandi Hummel, Ph.D., CCSP, of Tiffin University, and I attended the workshop in Chicago. Alongside 30 higher education leaders, career services professionals, and workforce experts, we collaborated to share ideas, identify opportunities, and develop early prototypes for a potential national career services resource to better support students and their career journeys.

I have no doubt there will be more to come from CIC about this engaging workshop that brought so many amazing thought leaders together!

Upcoming Event: Knowledge at Noon

Join OFIC’s new Knowledge at Noon webinar series! These free 30–60 minute sessions are designed for campus professionals to build skills, gain insights, and connect with peers on topics like student support and career development.

First session: March 25, 12:00–12:30 PM. Discover tips to maximize Handshake and get an introduction to the Collections module, with practical strategies you can apply on your campus.

Upcoming Event: OCEA Spring Conference

Join educators, employers, and workforce leaders at the 2026 Ohio Cooperative Education Association (OCEA) Annual Conference in Columbus, May 13–15, 2026. Centered on the theme Nurturing Talent, Shaping Futures, Building Careers, this statewide gathering highlights innovative strategies, partnerships, and work-based learning opportunities that prepare students for successful careers while strengthening Ohio’s future workforce.
